[Watford RSPB] The Watford Members group of the RSPB formed in 1974, and exists to further the RSPB's national objectives within our local community. The Group maintains activities which enables members to enjoy learning more about birds in Britain and abroad and to see birds in a wide variety of habitats in the company of fellow enthusiasts.
We extend a very warm welcome to anyone interested in bird protection and conservation, whether keen "birders", determined "twitchers" or with more general interests.

[Colne Valley Regional Park] The Colne Valley provides the first significant area of countryside to the west of London. It is a mosaic of farmland, woodland and water, with fifty miles of river and canal and over forty lakes. It is a living, working environment, providing employment and homes for many people. It is also a special place, regionally important for recreation and internationally important for wildlife. Much of the land is privately owned, however, large areas are open to the public or accessible through a network of paths.
The Visitor Centre, located in Denham near Uxbridge, is the central information point for the whole of the Colne Valley Regional Park. The centre currently has 30,000 visitors a year and is staffed by volunteers.

[ebird] A real-time, online checklist program, eBird has revolutionized the way that the birding community reports and accesses information about birds. Launched in 2002 by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society, eBird provides rich data sources for basic information on bird abundance and distribution at a variety of spatial and temporal scales,
eBird’s goal is to maximize the utility and accessibility of the vast numbers of bird observations made each year by recreational and professional bird watchers. It is amassing one of the largest and fastest growing biodiversity data resources in existence. For example, in May 2015, participants reported more than 9.5 million bird observations across the world!.
